Erkelenz - An elderly woman had a gold chain stolen from her neck on Saturday afternoon (July 13). The senior citizen was on the sidewalk in the street Am Flachsfeld at around 1.10 pm when a dark sedan pulled up next to her. A previously unknown woman sitting in the back of the car approached her from the vehicle and asked for directions. While the Erkelenz resident explained the way, the woman got out, engaged her in further conversation and put a ring in her hand. She then put a chain around the pensioner's neck and got back into the car. The car then drove off in the direction of the hospital. A short time later, when the senior citizen took off the chain she had received from the stranger, she discovered that her own gold chain, which she had previously been wearing around her neck, was missing. The suspect was about 45 years old and about 160 centimeters tall. She had a strong build and was dressed in a skirt and a grayish jacket and wore a gray head covering similar to a turban. She also spoke with a foreign accent.
