In Herford, there was a traffic accident on Bielefelder Straße at the junction with Laarer Straße early on Thursday morning (11.7.). At around 5.35 a.m., a 57-year-old man from Herford was driving his VW Multivan out of town on Bielefelder Straße and had to stop in front of the red light at the traffic lights for Laarer Straße. The 20-year-old driver of a Fuco Canter truck behind him was too late to notice that he had stopped and, despite being warned by honking his horn, hit the back of the Multivan. The 57-year-old was slightly injured by the force of the impact and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance for outpatient treatment. The 20-year-old from Vlotho was uninjured. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy due to the damage and had to be towed away from the scene of the accident. The leaking operating fluids were removed by the fire department. The material damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros.
